Graduations around the globe have been cancelled due to the pandemic. Yet, as its name suggests, Graduate Hotel caters particularly to the crowd visiting the University of Washington as it is located within walking distance from the campus. One of the few independent boutique hotels in that area, Graduate Hotel offers a unique ambience that sets it apart from more typical choices. Set in a building constructed in 1931 with an exterior reminiscent of the lower half of the Empire State Building, the hotel’s interior is a nod to its Art Deco roots. Also known as style moderne, distinguishing features of Art Deco movement are simple geometric shapes with a streamlined look often made with a combination of expensive natural materials and man-made materials including semi-precious stones. In essence, the art period borders on ostentatious opulence.
